Monthly Brown Bag

The next monthly brown bag discussion is coming up!!!

Bring your lunch and your brain!

Join your fellow archivists and librarians for a monthly, informal discussion of selected articles related to our profession. June’s Brown Bag discussion will be held Thursday, June 25th at noon in Room 126 at the UW Memorial Library (located on the first floor, west corridor—not in the actual library space).

Troy Reeves, Head of the Oral History Program at the UW, will lead the discussion on:

The Mosaic Narrative: Community Project Planning in Diverse Settings

by

Stephen Sloan

Director, Baylor University's Oral History Program

This talk was delivered at the 2009 Wisconsin Oral History Day • April 26-27, 2009 • Eau Claire, WI

As oral historians we seek to record, preserve, and present a chorus of voices and perspectives on the past in our efforts. By definition, oral history at its best is collaborative-holding the opportunities and challenges of shared authorship. This session will examine the dynamics of working with diverse communities to plan and execute oral history projects that produce positive outcomes for both researchers and our narrators.

This is an audio file which can be listened to as streaming (I will try to send out some notes before we meet)
